IDX to Introduce its New Schedule

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) may introduce a new schedule for its trading on the mid year. With the new schedule trading on IDX would begin at either 9 a.m. or 8:30 a.m. While closing time will remain unchanged at 4 p.m. The new schedule will align IDX with regional stock exchanges, such as Singapore and Hong Kong.

"We will announce the new hours in the second half [of 2011] because there are still some preparations we need to work on — the IT system and brokers," Ito said to The Jakarta Post on the sidelines of the Indonesia Sharia Stock Index (ISSI) launching event at the JW Mariott hotel in Jakarta on Thursday.
“At present, fund managers are setting strategies based on Singapore and Hong Kong. With the new hours, we don't have to be followers and will be included in their strategies. So if other markets fall, we don't have to follow," Ito.

Some analysts have said the extended hours will also help boost trade volume on the nation's bourse.

PLN wants additional funds

PT PLN -Indonesia state electricity firm- is thinking about the issuance of global bonds worth between U.S. $ 1.5 billion and $ 2 billion to help finance capital expenditure.

PLN President Director, Dahlan Iskan said, the decision on whether to issue the bonds would be made by the end of June.
"We most definitely need loans, but whether the funding will come from local banks or through the issuance of bonds we will only decide in late June," Dahlan said.

As for the loan amount, Dahlan said, "It will be between US$1.5 billion and $2 billion. We are continually evaluating. I don't want extra unnecessary funds.” Dahlan added that it was possible the company would issue sharia-based bonds (islamic bonds/sukuk), or seek loans from local banks.

Gold Prices Going to the Highest Level

Last night, the contract price of gold rose to its highest level in three weeks. Gold price surge came after the U.S. dollar weakened so that boosted demand for gold as an investment alternative.

At 13:41 pm New York time, the contract price of gold for June delivery on the Comex in New York rose 7.90 dollars or 0.5 cent that was in the position of 1523.30 U.S. dollars per troy ounce. This is the highest closing level for the most actively traded contract since May 3.

In the past year, the price of gold has increased by 28 percent. Gold prices touched record highs in the position of 1557.40 U.S. dollars per troy ounce on May 2.

Investors saw a decline in the currency markets. That's why they want to buy gold. Investors see gold as the safest alternative investment than US dollar. We're still bullish on gold prices.

Therefore, don't ever remove the gold from the list of your investment. Buy when prices fall, and sell when prices rise.
