Gold Price Drop

Gold price slumped sharply after briefly hit a record high of above U.S. $ 1,900 per ounce. This is the largest decline in gold price, so analysts began to re-think about the gold price rally is already peaked.

In the spot market, gold prices dropped of U.S. $ 90, after reaching record highs of U.S. $ 1911.46. The fall in gold price happens when Wall Street rose sharply, with the Dow Jones shot up to 2.5%.

In trading Tuesday (08/23/2011), price of gold recorded in the spot market fell 3.7% to U.S. $ 1,826.60. Gold recorded its biggest daily decline since February 2010.

Analysts warned the possibility of a sharp correction after rising gold price reached 8% in the last three sessions, or have already reached U.S. $ 400 per ounce since July.

Gold had reached a point where it moves U.S. $ 40-50 per ounce in a moment of commemoration. It's not a safe investment, obviously this is far from secure, but the riot. It is a psychological manifestation of the masses and this is frightening.

Gold Price will Continue Shining

Gold price in world market continue to create a record as concerns about debt problems in the Euro-zone. The gold price today through US $ 1800 for the first time.

Price of Gold for December delivery had touched a new US $ 1801 per ounce in trading Wednesday (10/08/2011) local time before it closed at the level of US $ 1784.30 per ounce.

Increases also occurred in other commodities along with sinking stock markets. Gold used to be an alternative investment when the situation in financial markets bounced. Cash is king, and then the hard assets. People are worried about the decline in currency values and they feel the hard assets will always be valued.

Those who bought gold still see a problem in the U.S. and the EU, an unstable currency markets, as well as the decline in world economic growth. They all refer to gold as the world's most powerful currency.

While the price of gold for current delivery closed at 1781.30 U.S. dollars, an increase over the previous close at 1740.00 the position of the U.S. dollar.

Markets still hit by fears of global economic circumstances. In addition, the riots in London, England are poised to trigger the price of gold continued to bullish. Strengthening gold price reflects not only fear about the Standard & Poor 's ratings. Moreover, the price of gold reflects the overall posture of the currency markets and world economy.

Earlier, JPMorgan Investment Bank on Tuesday (09/08/2011) estimate the spot price of gold will continue to go up to 2,500 U.S. dollars per troy ounce (31.1 grams) at the end of the year. JP Morgan's new estimate is 39 percent higher than the previous estimate of US $ 1800. In addition to JP Morgan, another banks have also changed the estimated the price of gold.

Gold price volatility is also high, due to reduction of U.S. credit ratings. Analyst Colin Fenton and Jonah Waxman said that time before the downgrade, they estimate the price of gold will reach US $ 1800 per troy ounce by the end of this year. But with the present circumstances it seems this view is very conservative.

The new estimate is about US $ 800 higher than the price of gold now. Previously, other bank, Goldman Sachs also increases its gold price forecast. Goldman said his economists have estimated the possibility of U.S. recession is one in three, and probably will happen within the next six months. However, the estimated price by Goldman is much lower than the estimate of JP Morgan.

Goldman estimate the spot price of gold will reach 1645 per troy ounce in three months and 1730 per troy ounce in the next six months.

Morgan Stanley, ANZ, UBS, MF Global and Barclays Capital last week also revised its estimate of the gold price in their research. While gold producers like Barrick Gold (ABX), AngloGold Ashanti (AU) and Randgold Resources (GOLD) also projected gold price keeps rising in recent days.

The Shiny Gold Price

Gold price for December delivery rose U.S. $ 22.8 to U.S. $ 1,644.5 per troy ounce on the New York commodity exchange (NYMEX). Gold price even rose to the highest level at U.S. $ 1,646.8 per troy ounce. While gold prices on Tuesday, August 2 in the spot market rocketed to nearly U.S. $ 30, according to Kitco gold index.

Silver prices also rose 78 cents to $ 40.09 per troy ounce, while the U.S. dollar index against six major currencies rose 0.22 percent to 74.48.

Having the certainty of rising U.S. debt problem. Congress supports the government's proposal to raise the debt limit of a maximum of U.S. $ 2.4 trillion. The current maximum debt of U.S. is now $ 14.3 trillion. Thus, this limit be increased to U.S. $ 16.5 trillion. Investors now see the economic outlook is less bright. Concerns over global economic growth which is running slow is a major factor soaring price of gold.

Poor economic data from the recent economic growth, the manufacturing index up to personal shopping, plus cuts in the budget of U.S. $ 2.5 trillion through the next 10 years clearly makes the U.S. economy difficult to grow. The high threat of U.S. debt downgrades also triggered the fall of share prices on Wall Street overnight more than one percent.

The fall of stock prices make precious metals as a safe haven (a place to park funds that are considered the most secure) to push the gold price surge. Bank of Korea announced the purchase of gold as much as 25 tons in the last two months also contributed trigger a gold price of getting glowing.

Purchases valued at U.S. $ 1.24 trillion, with prices around U.S. $ 1.550 an ounce, marking the country's purchases of gold for the first time since 1998. The central bank is likely to make a purchase of gold when they need to diversify its foreign exchange reserves as well as for long term investment.

The purchase of gold by central banks to make Korea reserves in gold of almost 40 tons, is still too small. Compared gold reserves of the U.S. central bank which reached 78 percent and Portugal's central bank which reached 84 percent, according to the World Gold Council's (WGC)

This purchase making gold prices continued to move up and remind us that other countries will also do the same. Official institutions in the first quarter of this year has made a purchase as much as 129 tons of gold, according to a report request from the WGC.

Since the second quarter of 2009, central banks in developing countries have been buying precious metals. One of the biggest is China. Over the last five years, China's central bank has increased its gold reserves up to 1054 tonnes from the previous only 600 tons. Currently its reserves in gold has just reached 1.6 percent. Can be imagined, if China wants to increase its reserves in gold up to 3 percent, then it takes as much as 1,000 tons of gold!

China is the largest gold producer with production reaching 340 tons of gold per year while India is the largest gold consumer. Purchases of gold that carried China's central bank is to balance the proportion of foreign exchange reserves which have slumped due to the fall of the dollar since the debt crisis and economic slowdown.

Increasingly Expensive, Gold Price New Record

The gold price back to a new record. The contract price of gold rose to the highest record at 1675.90 per troy ounce position in trading Wednesday (03/08/2011) local time after the U.S. economy signaled slowing due to debt issues. It boosted demand for gold as a safe haven.

One of the U.S. economic slowdown signal is a Moody's Investors Service statement that said the U.S. debt rating will likely be trimmed. Yesterday, the agency had also changed the U.S. credit rating outlook to negative.

As a note, the contract price of gold for December delivery rose 21.80 dollars or 1.3 percent, to 1666.30 U.S. dollars on the Comex, New York. Earlier, the price of gold was in the position of 1675.90 U.S. dollars per troy ounce, the highest level in history.

Throughout the year, the history of gold prices have surged 17 percent and scored the highest record of its time. Investors want the gold for safety. They shy away from volatile currency movements, the weakening economy, and political instability. As long as the situation is still bad, investors will buy gold to hedge. Gold is an international currency, its value is not affected by inflation. Gold also accepted everywhere and forever.
